Vulvovaginal Disorders

Vulvovaginal disorders encompass a wide range of conditions that include skin disease, infections, and pain syndromes that involve the genital region of women. While many of these problems are not uncommon, it can be hard for women to find the help they need.

 

Dawn KopelHere at Greater New Haven Ob Gyn, Dr. Dawn Kopel takes a special interest in helping these women.

 

Dr. Kopel is a graduate of Brown University and Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She completed her residency at the Medical College of Virginia and is a member of the ISSVD (International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease). To further her education, she continues to train under leaders in the field and to attend conferences specific to these issues.

 

She treats conditions including, but not limited to: lichen sclerosis, lichen simplex chronicus, vulvar psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, chronic and recurrent vaginitis, vulvovaginal atrophy, vulvar pain (vulvodynia), vaginal pain and vaginismus, and neuralgia. Dr. Kopel has built a referral network to help with the treatment of these disorders, and she is committed to making every effort possible to relieve the suffering and to provide the most up to date information for her patients.
